This prototype has been heavily tested in Slovenia and Italy on marble trout, brown trout, and rainbow trout. Early feedback from guides and anglers was unanimous: “Perfect—don’t change a thing.”

FYI: Designed as a 5-section rod, it delivers true travel convenience compared to standard 4-section, 2-weight nymphing rods. While slightly heavier, its 11’0” length gives anglers extended reach and superior line control—outperforming traditional 10’6” 2-weight designs in demanding European waters.

The Tanuki Euro-Nymphing Prototype debuts a new Class Level Rating System, designed for anglers who demand maximum precision and sensitivity when casting beadhead nymphs on ultra-fine, weightless lines.

Each Class Level is defined by two benchmarks:

1. Minimum Bead Size – the smallest tungsten bead the rod is engineered to cast effectively.
2. Fish Control Capacity – the maximum fish size the rod can handle with confidence.

Class Level #2- rod flex is similar to 2wt.
